For anyone who's interested in tracking this

Shyam Siddhi is 23 years old. Wasn't on coaching, played & batted in all the games he could have played this week - 1 T20 +2 OD - and still plopped in batting skill.

Appears reasonable to assume that if a player is close to his potential, he is losing skills every week from 23 years onwards.

Yeah. It does depend how close, as well. Also, the loss in skill at that point would be so small, it'd be very unlucky if it manifested in a plop.

The plop isn't relevant. It just shows that even with max training, the player was losing skills at 23. He's probably been losing skills all season.

23 seems a little too early for players to be losing skills, they are just 2 seasons out of DEV. And most players would only peak at 22 or later, that implies a season or less at peak skills.

It is relevant because "losing skills" is a relative thing. In most management games, when plops start, they come in a flood to the point that a player quickly becomes unusable. That's not the case in Stumped: we get worried when we see a plop at 23, but realistically player skills typically hold pretty much steady until their late twenties.

Like I said, how close they are to their potential matters too. If a player has been "over-trained" by the likes of playing all three formats for a while and getting coaching, that could well see them already closer to potential than most players ever get by the time they hit 22. After that, with no DEV games and if you stop coaching them, you'll naturally start to see them, very gradually, drop back to "normal" levels.

How high was the skill ?

All players decline every week, its just a case of whether or not the decline is bigger than the in-game development. Higher skills train much slower than low skills (so therefore the net decline will be bigger). I'd imagine it would be incredibly difficult to maintain 19/20 for anyone older than the juniors whereas a player can maintain 10/11 into their late 20s as the gains from playing matches cover the weekly decline.

Also you don't know how close they are to potential really. Could be between 0.01 and 1.99 depending on sub-levels which is a big difference.

I've noticed a plop in 23-24 year old in almost all my players, and a second when they're 26. A week on nets and he regains the plop. Has been discussed on our WhatsApp group, but nobody seems to know the reason for it.

Today is a special case. It’s the off season so the only matches played since last training were Fridays OD games.
So dev only players will have lost a little without any in game training and older players who need two games per week to keep their skills up will have plopped. The younger ones will rebound fairly quickly. You’ll see a little wiggle in their stat history over the next couple of weeks.

Also the extra cup matches at the start of the season will also go a long way to recover off season plops.
