Iceni Cricket Club156/6
mlmotplgc (16.1ov)157/6

Considering that this was a match between a 3rd division side and a 1st division side, I reckon Iceni put up a fantastic battle. We elected to bat first and set a respectable target, which (of course) mlmotplgc set about getting in 4s and 6s, and reached in 16.1 overs. No worries, I'm happy with my lads' performance today.

Some hot games in Aus 1.1 today. Tonkers vs Jims XI is looking interesting with Tonks dismissed for 118 - Jims will be pretty confident of chasing them down which will open the table a bit. Fartland has posted an impressive 167 against GVE - a win to them would push Fartland back up to second. The rest of us are not really in the mix for end of season honours and our games could still go either way. I'm fairly confident my guys can chase a lowish total of 139 set by the Carthaginians, and Niteville/Ricky Town is still in the balance, RT chasing a fairly hefty 150 to win.

Games now finished: Fartland beat GVE to jump into second, and are less than a game behind Tonkers after Jims completed the victory there. In my game, the openers put on 124 runs (chasing 139). We still somehow managed to lose three wickets but sewed up the game with a couple of overs left. And Ricky Town easily accounted for the 150 runs they needed against Nite Ville with almost four overs spare. Just a tiny bit faster would have been good for them though - they only missed the bonus point by one ball!

Holy hell, playing Ascott against hapless div 2 bowling attacks is hilarious to behold. He now has 691 runs for the season after today’s belting. He hit an unbeaten 121* off 54 balls against some pretty ordinary bowling tbf but he has more runs than my next 3 run scorers combined
Averages a whopping 87.61 and honestly I probably only need him to win games at this level.

You Miss I Hit also surprisingly got thumped by dragon ashes today so we now sit 9 points clear of them with an extra +4 to our NRR than theirs, almost back to div 1 in style but still a couple of tricky games to deal with. Although we could be knocked out this round of the cup to make dealing with condition easier.

Has anyone else in AUS 1.1 noticed the freakish performance of Manyika Zander (Fartland) this season? He's a 27 year old fast bowler with the "death bowling" characteristic, and his bowling has been just incredible: 14 wickets in 123 balls (20.3 overs), conceding just 82 runs. That's an average of 6, strike rate of 1 wicket every 9 balls, and economy of 4 runs per over. Seriously, how good is this guy playing right now?! He's only 7th on the total wickets list but wow what a performance so far. For reference, the next best economy in the division is 6.4.

FYI his touch is 7, just to dip into that other debate! :D

Speaking of fielding, right now in the division the top wicketkeeper is Matu of GVE with 20 dismissals. Top outfielder is Isley of Fartland with 9 fielding dismissals.

Zander bowled today too 2/19 of 3 overs..with 179 runs scored.

But I am annoyed with today match against Ricky Town.. 4 of my batsmen run out all early, all within in the first 10 overs. Why? The run rate was good (it was like 8.5+ an over).

Still managed a good total of 175.

A crap over by the skipper, 17 runs given away at a crucial point in the game, lost us the game. Perhaps I shouldnt have bowled him at all. He does have 20 captaincy, 20 experience and 20 touch lol  .

Oh well, its a game I feel i should have won. As usual K.Rehman continues to smash my bowlers..

Promotion basically secured this week as we move 14 points ahead with 4 to play. Barring losing our last 4 spectacularly we should be back in div 1 next season after we prevailed by 45 runs today. Wasn’t our best game with the bat, limped in the end to 7-162 which would’ve been a lot worse if not for some late hitting by Bell and Dizzy too bump the target up a bit out of Bulldogs reach. Shorten took five in the response as they never really threatened to reel in the target.

Tonkers smashed FIs bowling all over the place today, we couldn't handle their top order. Petrie, Mavuso and Solkar all tore us up leaving a huge total. gg

Playing Jims XI, if I win I could potentially move to 2nd place and have a crack at the top spot.

Big game between Tonks (1st) and Green Valley Eagles (2nd).
