Economical and F+G. That's a bowler with a split personality. How does that work then ? Do they net off against each other

The positives out way the negatives of traits so I would assume overall he will have slight gains economically and for wicket taking

I think the question has been asked before and the answer was something along the lines of the two characteristics function differently, so how they balance each other out might depend on the stage of the innings, the relative quality of the bowler and batsman, etc.

But, yes, I agree - given all characteristics are designed to be net positives, I would expect on average that he would be a better bowler in terms of both economy and strike rate.

It depends what they mean by each characteristic is meant to be net positive

If you know your bowler is economical then in theory you can plan for that - set an appropriate field and bowl him when you want to keep run rate down - maybe pair him with a 'partnership breaker' and so on giving you an advantage. That might be the net positive aspect not that the maths makes him a better bowler.
