Season 20 INT discussion

Postby ltraynor » Sat Apr 13, 2019 7:34 am

Greetings fellow International managers/fans

Congratulations to those who are managing their respective countries this coming 2 seasons. As you are probably aware Rob sent out a message about wanting to do something in stumped with the real world cup this round which I think is a fantastic idea, we can go thrash England in England what's not to love ;)

Rob has requested our input on what to do for a short season before the world cup and I've put the idea out there for a tour type schedule. Would be nice to have a multi game series against a single country so wondering what others thing of this idea as a warmup for the big show (World cup)

Either way it's a great opportunity to get some more activity into stumped with a big event like the world cup so let's get behind your country (whoever you may support) and make it the best event in stumped ever.

I think from a brief discussion with other managers they are keen on SOD friendlies too. I am happy for this option provided the stats and averages count as competitive ODI games :).

I'd agree with this and prefer friendlies over a rushed 2020 tournament before the main WC. As a newbie would like a chance to try stuff out.

Well, as you likely know, I sent you all said message and am getting replies in:

8 so far

Quick T20 tournament: 2
Friendlies (set up as a league likely, but not full): 3
World Cup warm ups (with world cup squad): 1
Tours (3/5 games of 1 nation against another): 1

Abstaining: 1

So coming towards a consensus of 50 over "friendlies" - it would be simple to set these up as a league, but one that not every team would play every team. Then would need to think about squads...

World cup squads are small... just 15 apparently. And we will of course match them.

Will there be any permitted squad changes?

So I had a chat with Rob.

Plans are: An initial 23 man squad for the warm ups.

This will be cut down to 15 for the world cups.

NO changes are permitted.

15 places, use them wisely ;)

I think it would be slightly disruptive to team morale if we were to take legal action against our own players? But, I don't know.

Is that a suggestion for the 11th nation?

All players of USA nationality have by default the characteristic "litigious"... Once a week a random member of the rest of the squad is selected and 5 levels of touch are exchanged between the American and selected player, in a random direction, to represent the morale effects of the lawsuit and its results.

It was a humorous response to a typo RTJ made... but that does sound like an interesting idea for a new characteristic! :P
