Does captaincy level actually significantly matter if I'm in Div 4? Because while I have two good captains for SOD and T20, at DEV level I only have one guy whose captaincy is above (it's 12) and the next best guy has captaincy 9. Is it worth keeping the specialist captain around (since I only use him for one or two death overs since his bowling isn't the best and he's a death bowler, but he's a fantastic fielder). His wage is under 1000 so it wouldn't make too much difference to my already tight finances to let him go

There are many different ways to play this game.

My approach as a new player would be accumulate max 15 young players (aged 18 or less) and totally rebuild making sure you keep any good players and do not sell them off. That might change your question above but if it doesn't then...

If the player can bat or bowl and is a future long term prospect then keep him. If not then the 9 captaincy player is fine.

Captaincy helps your fielding rating and so will help you create more chances for wickets in the field.

Hallo
i am fresh and new. first day aaargh
firstly i am hoping to move over here from FTP after being there for 6 and a half years. they changing some stuff that i don't agree with so i am pulling out my support.
Sad to say because i got so used to the easy navigation and user friendly layout

so here i am

i would deperately like a Mentor because after doing tutorial and reading the rules i have more questions than answers.
and i find the User interface really difficult to find where i want to go and to navigate.
Setting bowling orders is still a mystery.now matter where i click or drag my bowler list does not reflect the battling lineup ie. some bowlers there that are not in the playing 11
for instance one thing i realised in my tutorial is when setting training and and match orders, i have to open numerous new tabs with my players details just to know which is a batter and which is what. if their role and basic stats could be on a pop up tooltip window that would help immensely

so i hope to get to know some of you really well and look forward to this more of a thinking mans approach to Cricket management

Welcome ViggoMoffin. I've thought about the tooltip popup before a few times... I just worry about load times (either for the whole page or the tooltip). Both coaching and orders have key info on players in sortable tables though.

Hopefully someone will be along to mentor... nobody wants it to be me... that would be a disaster.

Welcome! Plenty of FTP players past and present here too.

There's stacks of advice on the forums for new players. I think the biggest difference from FTP is the finance management - you really need to be very careful with squad size and wages, including back office.

And of course training which is much more limited in this game - you have a limited number of training spots so you need to be judicious.

Happy to help with anything but would suggest its maybe best to ask questions here that way you get a bigger range of opinions. Stumped more so than other games, there are lots of different routes to go down. Only definite must-do is be careful with your cash as a new team.

Might be worth opening up your squad for advice on particular players.

Stumped is a great game though - there's a lot to take in initially so don't try and learn everything day 1.
