T20 Help needed

Postby Stomalomalus » Wed Jun 12, 2019 12:44 pm

So, I'm no beginner anymore, but I feel like it when it comes to T20. This season I finished 2nd behind a runaway winner in ENG Div1 DEV league. I'm due to finish 2nd or 3rd in ENG Div1 SOD. And I just relegated from Eng Div2 T20...

I just can't seem to get performances out of my players, especially batting. Either they get out or they hang around scoring too slowly and the bowlers can't keep the pressure on.

I'd love any tips about T20, how to get better results, as my players are good! I have 4 internationals and the others aren't half bad, either!

Help needed here too. Promoted from SOD 2 to 1 and Dev 3 to 2 but relegated from T20 (again).

Not sure - I've done OK in 2020 (finished second in England 2 years in a row) but not as well as in SOD so was trying to figure out how to improve as well. Stating the obvious but batsmen play more attacking shots so need more attack skill and less defensive.

Bowling wise, in theory specialists (new ball or death) should be better as they can bowl their entire spell in one go (so death bowlers don't need to bowl till the last 7 overs). Not sure how pitch deterioration works though - never got an answer from the DEVS. Unless ME accounts for it, partnership breakers should get a penalty (if you go 15 overs without a wicket the PB bonus isn't going to do you much good) and not sure I have ever seen reverse swing kick in. So you might want to avoid these guys to improve in 2020.
In theory experience, iceman and probably superstar should help.

Probably need someone who has done better in 2020 than SOD to share their secrets.

Sure, sent you an invite for this evening. We could post orders after the game here so it can be dissected to help work out good/bad T20 tactics.

Tomorrow night, but yes! Thanks :)

Looking forward to seeing you in SOD Div1 this year, too :)
