Ashes
Re: Ashes
He bowled pretty well even without taking wickets. Though Warne was super critical in the commentary box, thought he was bowling much too straight and fast. He was banging on about it for a while, then Lyon bowled a slow/wide turner that took a wicket. Like Warney needed a fatter head!bumpuss wrote:Lyon only got 2 wickets in the 2nd innings which is worrying..

Re: Ashes
I'm thrilled that the Aussies kept their cool under pressure this time and won the match, hence retaining the Ashes. Cummins and Hazlewood bowled very well as usual whilst Steve Smith was amazing with the bat yet again.

Re: Ashes
Lyon injured his spinning finger early in the match, which explains quite a bit of why he wasn't quite as consistent or dangerous as usual in the conditions. Fair effort to bowl as much as he did, really, and take a couple of important wickets.

Head our third best performing bat of the series, dropped. Yet Warner still playing? Seems legit.

Re: Ashes
I think the Australian selectors wanted to play an allrounder to help ease the workload of the bowlers. However, I don't think you should be selecting an allrounder for test cricket unless they are test quality. Mitch Marsh has been given a large amount of matches to prove himself at Test level and hasn't been good enough. If any of our bowlers aren't fully fit, give them a rest and select one who is fit. We've got excellent fast bowling depth.
Head hasn't batted well this series and he doesn't look like a test batsman IMO. Although his current form is poor, Warner has a proven track record as a very good test match batsman.

Re: Ashes
Went to bed with 4 wickets down... not super surprised to see the news this morning. Smith had to fail eventually, he didn't look very sharp yesterday and he fell to a definite trap which is interesting for future clashes. I guess it's good that Wade made runs, but I don't actually like him much so...
