Our main team is just about washed up...got absolutely toweled by GVE in the return bout. Just shows how terrible our bowling is as they looked on track for 340 again, but ran out of overs after some beyond frustrating knocks from Shorten to an extent, but more taking aim at Nozulu. At one point he was 10 off 32 ffs, despite defensive fields he couldn't bloody find singles which was all I really wanted. Absolutely killed our momentum after Ascott's sedate for his standards 87. Shorten was well down on his strike rate more so, and while it's not his job to blitz runs he went a snails pace of 51. Nozulu made up a little for lost time as he finally got out for 37 off 60, and Dizzy's refusal to give Face the strike at the end cost the gun a ton as he finished 95* from 60 balls as he came home strong, and bar he and Ascott no one else really bothered to do much else with the bat.

Then with the ball, once Donda got spanked for 32 off his first 4 overs it was curtains. Dizzy fought hard with 1-17, Donda got a couple, but Ritter got hammered with 1-82 in a performance I expected more from Shorten than literally anyone else and might as well have given him the ball. And Shuey continues to get hammered. Lots of headaches now as we continue to spiral towards the drop zone.

And our day gets worse as the affiliate was chasing a below subpar 156 against a team we have a 12k advantage against in a fellow affiliate in SA ducks. A 23 skilled 16 year old showed us how to bat on this pitch with a rollicking 56 off 65 as Hameed (37), Duma (32) and Ryan (34) were all skittled early to have us 4-25 early days. 6-86 as our last bat in Msomi (34) gets out, leaving it to Pyke and allrounder Riaz to dig us out of this hole. Need a captains knock from Pyke, but bloody can't trust a SA player....

Congrats to Birmingham Blasters for winning both their matches against Marvellous Effort That this season. Both matches were close contests - which has been a common occurrence between these two teams. Birmingham Blasters are undefeated so far in their league and are clear front-runners for the title in SA Div.2.1.

Stonking victory today in a sixth versus seventh clash with Oswestry. After deciding to bat first, openers Mannan and Manning had a steady century opening stand before the former was dismissed on 49. Manning (76) and Page (71) then took the score to just over 200 with 13 overs to go, but we finished on a disappointing 276-5 when we were looking set for 300+.

In reply Dagnell and Gilchrist were rocking along at 6 an over before Bonham (4-6) and Allman (3-26) rolled them over for just 87. Top scorer was Sutherland (24) but nobody else really got going as White Room move to just 6 points behind 5th placed Perry Pirates. Much tougher match against All In The Wrists next week, but Pirates are playing the league leaders so maybe we can sneak a point nearer? Who knows....

Subpar performance against Morganshire who continue to thrash us every time we play them. We got out for 175 on a 60 wear pitch where 200 was the minimum for victory, with the only good innings being 68 by Lodi but some resistance for Blackwell and Peake down the order. Quite a few of my batsmen got starts but couldn’t convert. The total was never a winning one, with Morganshire cruising the chase and winning in the 38th over with 5 wickets in hand. My bowlers were alright but it was too much of an ask, and some improvement is needed. Ruchir was appalling in what was quite a bowling friendly pitch, going at over 6 an over and not taking any wickets, and I’m hoping that he’ll improve in the next season as he’s releasing pressure built
At the start by my other bowlers.

With The Bengals (47k) pulling off a pretty huge upset against 58k rated Cross Crusaders, we’ve slipped back to 6th. We’ll have to hope that we really have the wood over the former this season as we’re facing them next week, and will hope to make 3/3 victories against them across formats into 4/4.

I did say they were too low for their skill level... they are a real chance.

To be fair, I thought 275 was a winning score in the conditions - a bit of wear and some cloud cover meant it was hardly ideal for batting. There wasn't a lack of effort from Nozulu, nearly half his strokes were attacking - he just couldn't get it off the square. And Face more than made up for it, clubbing one of the best death bowlers in the world for six sixes and two fours in the space of eleven balls, many of them pretty good balls.

We just got lucky in that two very aggressive batsman (van der Merwe and Vardabeelian) had days out and took full toll from the weaker bowlers. Even then you had us in a spot of bother after a lower-middle order collapse and I had to rely on Faraz holding out - the last three wouldn't have offered much resistance. It was a topsy-turvy game where both sides had their chances, I was just lucky to come out on the right side of it.

We were at home today v Cricfanxi, won the toss and sent them into bat. Cricfanxi batted very well today with excellent innings by Grayson (98 from 108 balls) and Needham (138 n.o from 103 balls). They amazed a big total of 326 and completely tonked Gwynn who conceded 94 runs.

My opening pair weren't fazed by the big total to chase and produced a very good opening partnership of 130 from 20.4 overs. Sabir departed for 60 but batting genius Khawaja Jawad produced yet another century - his fifth SOD century in AUS Div.1 this season! Cricfanxi took enough wickets to keep the chase tight throughout. We got home by 3 wickets with 4.1 overs to spare. Good game. :)

The table is still pretty tight in AUS Div.1. The Tonkers lead with 32 points, closely followed by FI on 29 points, The Reds on 27 points, GVE and Lauderdale are on 25 points, and The Bobs XI are on 22 points. Any one of those 6 teams could still be in the running for the title at this stage.

Our quest to top both our senior Div 2 leagues down in New Zealand continues in success. Today we managed to secure a huge win over Linkin Hawk 11 after getting thrashed by them last time. We batted first to score just under 300, with everyone in the top 9 chipping in with roughly 20 or so, though it was Fahad Sheikh’s innings of 42(46) while batting as a specialist batsman at 8 (I have a weird lineup at the moment) that helped us after he formed a stand with bowling AR Jamil Sharif who scored 20(27) batting at 9.

Perhaps another reason that we got to that total was the 60 extras since they probably played someone with low keeping skill  . Anyways, a brilliant bowling performance had them fall to 181 all out which gives as a massive win.

With the table in mind, this means that Linkin Hawk, the favourites to win the league as the established team over the two affiliate sides and my relatively newly formed park team, drop down to 4th with 33 points. Infuriatingly I’m only 3rd on 35 points with the affiliates the Raptors and the Krodglets both sit above me at 36 points
each. If I’d managed to win that game against the Raptors earlier this season I would’ve been first, though of course we have a rematch coming soon. Any 4 of us could win the title at this rate, I have a sneaking suspicion that it may come down to NRR though...

Another game in tricky conditions for batting. I was delighted to win the toss but Los Galacticos set about my opening bowlers.

Things changed when my medium pacers took the ball, as
69-0 became 75-4. Interesting times.

Edit: my opening bowlers enjoyed much more success in their second spells and LG are now reeling at 136-8 with twenty-odd overs to bat.

Edit: We dismissed them for 180 and at the halfway point we are 97/2. This should be within our grasp, but our tail is long and toothless so one never really knows.

Edit: Oh, typical. Boycott has got himself run out. That's a wobble I really didn't want.

Edit: Brooke's usual cameo has ended.
..1.1...6....out

Edit: match won. Lyle hit the winning runs with a six that took him past the fifty mark. Well played, lad.

Trying to make it 4 wins out of 4 against the Bengals this season but we messed up the start of the innings. The two unnecessary runouts earlier on didn't help. Lodi and Wyatt's 94 run partnership steadied the ship but then we lost two quick wickets. The MAS is 220, hopefully we can get close. Rabada is bowling with a ball quality of 8.2 though and is barely giving anything away. Hopefully Lodi and Peake can bat us to 200, and given that we bat down till 10 it is still possible to get to a score of substance.
