I'd be very very surprised if a team couldn't do this, digging into youth squad. I have 16/25 with an e, and 22/25 with an a.

Teams who feel they are unable to meet the requirements for the letters round should let me know. We'll work something out.

Almost too easy - all but one of my first XI has got an e in their name so I could just play full strength. Maybe suggest some weighting be applied based on scrabble value of the letter to give an incentive for more obscure lineups? .

Is there any love for this?
I'm happy to do it if you all are. Just seems less likely that folk will be able to find 11 that have a p.

I love the idea, but I suspect it would not work. Problem will be, if someone bats first with a weighting of a higher number, then you will never know if the second team will reach the revised target. The mechanics of the game would also work against the weighting as it would not take it into account.

Possibly a better idea would be to have it so all names have to have a minimum of 2 of each letter. Or restrict it to surnames/first names.

but we can give any letter right? Say Q? or am I getting this all wrong? Is it me or the opponent who chooses the letter?

Choose a letter yourself.
Each player you field must have that letter SOMEWHERE in his name.

Bob Builder, and Steve Bloggs are both ok for letter "o". It might end up being quite easy for most teams, but let's see.
