Now 15 people expressed interest.

It's easy for me to set 2 leagues of say, 8, all-play-all in the league, then knockout rounds (plus a plate competition perhaps). This would take 10 weeks with 7 league rounds, then 3 finals rounds.

If we get one more signup I'll do that.

As regards ppl not being able to set up the team, that's fine they just forfeit the game to a walkover.
I don't see what's wrong with buying a player just for the game. I certainly don't have time to police it, so I won't rule it out. If you can spend your cash to enjoy winning a friendly league, more power to you!

Self policing is the way to go. I think buying players to try and win the round should be fine..will make things interesting

Couple more suggestions:

1. Most extras wins or bonus pts

2. Team total = highest runscorer + your worst bowler.

3. Golden Ducks worth 100 runs

So there are 10 confirmed, 5 on waitlist.
If one more signs up, we have 2 lovely leagues of 8, with a little knockout at the end.

Anyone for the last spot?

If no one else does sign up, you could create informal fixtures for the other 5 teams so they don't miss out?

Based on today’s world rankings, and interweaving, here are the leagues for the VRC.
Fixtures will be in a new thread for each round.

LEAGUE A
11 Free HK
15 Sir XI
21 Green Valley Eagles
32 Crazy xi
42 LMD CC
49 Pest CCC
58 Usz Warriors
110 Chester Ducks

LEAGUE B
14 Cunning
17 Durham Elite
31 Blackcat
38 Pro Crastinators
43 Fartland
54 Fictionally Inclined
69 Liverpool Vikings
142 All in the wrists

Rounds will be as below. I’m ditching the concept of NRR, since I can’t be faffed to calculate it. Bonus points listed in each case. If there’s a tie for the bonus point, no one gets it. If a team fails to field a legal side, the other team gets a walkover plus 1 bonus point, i.e. 5 points. I may make exceptions if there’s a walkover in round 7! I hope to run a plate competition alongside the finals, so we can all enjoy all the rounds, hopefully.

Responsibility for arranging the friendly goes to the home team, but the away team is encouraged to be proactive.

Week 1 starting Feb 27th
Highest partnership:
4/2/0 points. The bonus point in this case goes to whichever team has two successive good partnerships in the list, i.e. if you have highest and second highest, you get it. If you have second and third highest, you get it

Week 2 starting Mar 5th
Age before beauty:
Play in age order, youngest first.
The bonus point goes to the widest age range

Week 3 starting Mar 13th
Bullseye
Closest to 35000 rating wins 4 points. The bonus point to whoever wins the match

Week 4 starting Mar 20th
Crazy lose game:
4 points to losing team, 2 for a tie. The bonus point goes to lowest rating on the day

Week 5 starting Mar 27th
Easy as ABC:
Players must play in family name order. 'da Silva' begins with d
Bonus point to the player with the longest non-renamed name
Extra Bonus point if you play 2 players with the same family name

Week 6 starting Apr 3rd
Ban the bastards!:
1 week prior to the game your opponent may ban two of your non-crowd pleaser players.
Bonus point to most crowd pleasers

Week 7 starting Apr 10th
Bonus round:
It's a normal game 4/2/0, but there are up to 7 bonus points as follows (No NRR in this game):
most different hobbies
most nationalities
most different types of bowler who bowl at least 5 overs, left and right count as different
most different talents
most home-grown players
most players at least 30 year old
most extras bowled

Quarter final starting Apr 17th
Everyone bowls:
Each person bowls 5 overs in 1 single spell

Semi final starting Apr 24th
Mind your ps and qs:
Choose a letter of the alphabet. All players must have that letter somewhere in their name.

Final starting May 1st
Out with the old:
You must field the youngest 6 and oldest 5 players in your club roster
