South Africa VS West Indies

Postby Krypto » Thu Jun 10, 2021 8:56 am

Cant wait for this series .

The mental game already started with SA expecting spin friendly conditions and selecting 4 spinners in the squad only to be met with a close to home seam friendly environment . Couple of youngsters on both sides that might get a opportunity so very excited for a old rivalry and friendship .....

Haven't been following real cricket for a while due to other commitments but just checked the score and bloody hell, Nortje and Ngidi have destroyed the West Indies lineup  . As I type now they're 90/9 with 4 wickets apiece to the aforementioned bowlers and one to Rabada. Looks like the Proteas may be able to run the Windies over for a low total unless Holder manages to play a blinder and the number 11 Seales sticks around.

Looks like we could be in for a great test match. Although I find it interesting that SA expected spin friendly conditons, the West Indies has always had either seam friendly or flat pitches (more so the first option in recent times to aid their bowlers). They've only recently started including Rakheem Cornwall regularly as a specialist spinner.

Yea i am not sure how that was interpreted by the SA camp thinking we need a big spin contingency in the caribbean however they publicly announced they where expecting it .

It was a amazing day of test cricket yesterday . Surprised by the squad , was hoping Jansen got a debut however they stuck with a spinner in Keshav.

Very pleased with our front line attack and this wicket suits our team like a glove as a 200 plus score is big and we are struggling to reach 300 consistently.

Looking forward to another day of exiting test cricket .

Jansen does have a pretty damn good FC record and given that he's a big tall left arm quick who can also bat he will surely be playing for you guys soon, but he is only 21. You guys seem to be doing alright with the bat, quite happy for Markram succeeding.

Agreed , tough conditions for batsman so glad to see Markram doing the work .

We have a surplus of talent in our country and thats a issue with selecting players however im disappointing with the selection , including so many spinners and a team not playing to our strengths etc .

One of the major issues is that we have been unable to get to big scores and with young batsman in the wings like Rickleton , Hamza , Malan , Van Tonder and many more it becomes a major problem when continuing with guys ....

Very excited to watch later today , really entertaining fast test cricket .

Not much to say about the first test. Proud of the boys, our bowlers showed again they are world class and a very good threesome. Batsman showing some fight however still a lot of qeustions there.
