Season 26 Review

Postby bumpuss » Fri Mar 05, 2021 9:41 pm

Season 26 Review

The season is almost with just one round to go.

Unfortunately we will be demoting in Development league. As expected it was very competitive league and we will finish most likely 2nd last having only won 2 matches. Good new is we just promoting the T20 league to division 2 and hopefully avoid demotion in the SOD league.

Ravindu Tampoe is the leading runscorer this season with 1152 runs and high score of 96.
Deenadayaal Sanjukta is the leading wicket taker this season with 58 wickets and best bowling of 5/24.
Ravindu Tampoe is the best fielder with 9 catches and 2 run outs.

More to come.

Season 27 Review

With one round left in the season, should promote to Div 2 in SOD and stay in Div 3 in T20 and DEV leagues.

Only one youth was retained and another was sold for $1k.

Net transfer profit is about $250k. Highest transfer fee $120k.

Welcome Mr Heaybeard

Postby bumpuss » Sat Jul 31, 2021 5:02 am

Bernard Heaybeard joined the club yesterday. Bernard is a former international bastsmen and brings a wealth of experience to the club. He has been named captain of both the one day and twenty twenty sides.

The club also welcomes Jaha who replaces Barnard as senior keeper.

These two acqusition will further the batting depth that was much required.

Season 30

Finished 3rd in SOD and DEV division 2. Promoting to T20 Division 1 for the first time  . It will be a real challenge to stay up. A good effort after 6 seasons.

Highest transfer paid was $440,358 for the purchase of Kurt Redman. Kurt had a fantastic season leading the runs for the club in the SOD (604 runs @40.27). At 28 though, cant expect him to perform as well next season.

After 6 seasons the gap between the main team (Fartland) and Breaking Winds has significantly reduced. The affiliate still lacks batting, but the bowling lineup is on par if not better than the main team.

Next post will be Combined XI lineup for all formats.

So just for some fun Combine Dev XI (U21). Potential in brackets.

Damn these Sri lankans have really long names!

1. S.Arulanandam (LHS, 46) - Affiliate
2. M.Oxmaul (RHS, 46) - Main
3. N.Savundranayagam (RHS, 47) - Main
4. Z.Sheikh (LHS,WK,C, 45, 16) - Main
5. T.Amjad (RHS,RM, 47/40) - Affiliate
6. D.Levy (RHD, 46) - Affiliate
7. E.Fletcher (RHS, RM, 45/41) - Main
8. G. Siddique (RHS,RFS, 39/46) -Affiliate
9. I.Mpikela (LF, 46) - Affiliate
10. M.Bryant (RWS, 46) - Affiliate
11. S.Sinnathurai (RMF, 48) - Main

Main team has 5 players and affiliate has managed 6 in the combined XI. Montana from the main team would be the 3rd spinner option. Very solid team ,with both main and affiliate having good depth in batting and bowling.

The top 5 are very solid capable batsmen. Fletcher is a new recruit with plenty of potential as a batting all-rounder. There is a good variety in the bowling attacked, with left armer in Mpikela and wristie in Bryant. Amjad and Fletcher are good enough to bowl overs here and there and one of the can be dropped in bring in a 3rd spinner or to bring in another specialist seamer.

Shirley Bassey (Gold award)

Postby bumpuss » Fri Jun 17, 2022 10:15 am

On 11th June, the club paid its highest every transfer fee to acquire all rounder Jared Ellery. In doing so the club achieved Shirley Bassey Gold award!

Jared will no doubt be backbone of the teams batting in the future and is also very capable seam bowler. Squad development has been excellent so far, especially with recent youth recruit Madushan Raju.

The recent purchase no doubt will mean 1 or 2 players will have to be transfer listed to make room for the younger players to develop.
