I've also got a big fight on my hands in 2.3, up against Rastamentals and Raptors affiliate... Could go down to the wire. But I'm happy to spend another season in Div2 as I don't feel my team is developed yet. Could do with another season into the legs of 5 or 6 players.

T20, though, no chance.

I keep getting smashed despite better ratings.

I have time for a rethink this week so hopefully the foxes can start winning soon!

Did you forget my affiliate that beat you yesterday :D
Punching above their weight so I'll have to take the credit for my tactics.

Rockhoppers CC are having a decent run this season, our batsmen are finally starting to step up with the bowling becoming even more potent by the day. Future NAT prospects are developing nicely, particularly keeper-batsman Mkhonza and seam bowler Chughani, the latter of whom has upped his pace from slow medium 63mph max speed to become a RFM with max speed of 82mph currently, and will hopefully be a fast bowler in the next season or two.

Our league positions are very good considering how mediocre the team was last season. We are currently sitting at 1st in our Div 3 DEV league with our competition being fellow affiliates Moonford CC as well as Free HK. We defeated the former in both fixtures and defeated FHK in the first, but unfortunately we were outclassed by Zorax’s boys in the second round of fixtures. Still in a very healthy position to win the league so long as we don’t choke against bots or lose too many bonus points. T20 is a bit bleak with us sitting at 4th out of 4 human teams, with AHJ Pirates and affiliate Flying Mzanzi battling out for the title , but we have caused the odd upset in this league. SOD is similar with our team not matching the standards of Woody’s Woodpeckers or Panuria Champions, but we should be capable of finishing 3rd.

As far as transfers go there have been 3 large ones of note. Wristpinner Iwan Marais was transfer listed after being a solid senior player for us, and we made the big signing of the South African express pacer (and the occasional captain of the Proteas) Jacques Roux, whom while ageing is still a very skilled bowler, and under his leadership the team has seen some good progress. We also needed to develop a young all-rounder as our tailenders are pretty incompetent, so we brought in freshly recruited seam AR Abeltje Fouche who is now getting regular DEV games

What a huge victory for the East Row Eagles today in Div 2 T20... Sibelius started throwing the kitchen sink at our bowlers but some late wickets from Shubhabrata in particular stopped the flow and Sibelius finished at a respectable 173/7, the largest score our bowlers had conceded in t20 all season!

And with that, some absolute mad scenes occured in our batting innings, Azeem who has been an absolute legend this whole campaign, constructed a composed 61 from 50 balls and let the fireworks pop off around him, first from Hlumukazi and then from Roberts but after some very tidy late overs East Row were up against it needing a good 40 from the last 4 overs! But Sasthi and Shubhabrata took Sibelius apart and we were comfortably home with about an over to go! Shubhabrata was particularly fearless smashing 22 from just 9 balls! Quite the performance and earnt him MotM, his 2nd against top quality opposition in t20 this season (he won the game for me against Calgary too!)

So the div 2.2 t20 is down to a two horse race!

East Row Eagles play: Pitch Smashers, Calgary Beer Guzzlers and then Wuhan Wonders, where we should be expected to win at least 2 of these, however both Pitch Smashers and Wuhan are in a relegation battle and shouldn't be taken lightly!

Calgary have a tougher run: Sibelius, East Row, Blandford Badgers (all the top 4 excluding themselves!)

Ultimately it should come down to the game at Calgary in a couple weeks time but plenty of time for Calgary to slip up before then

FHK are 2nd in Dev Div 3 and pushing for promotion

The senior sides are 7th in both Div 2s tho! It's a tight race, we've been amongst the lowest in terms of expert previews in both leagues, which is expected as a home grown side. Have lost a few matches I would have liked us to win though, but that's mostly down to the lack of experience I suppose.

If we drop to Div 3 we should be able to promote back up pretty easily.

The Woodpeckers have enjoyed a fairly successful season in Americas, and adapting to the new challenges the region has presented us.

In Dev, we are currently placed top of 1.1 with a 6 point lead. We look set to secure the title, though we are a team that has come accustomed to the occasional slip up, so the title is not a sure thing, but I am confident we will prevail. If we secure the DEV title we will have obtained the main goal I set the team at start of season.

In T20, two losses to Cow Corner (who will canter to the first place and promotion now) mean I have used this league as further development for younger players these last couple weeks. In honesty I am glad I will still be in Div 3 next season for this format, as this offers further opportunity to give youngsters a go next season.

In SOD, we are top of 3.6 with a 4 point lead. Hopeful that we will secure promotion to the 2nd division here, though we play 2nd place in tomorrows game which will likely decide who finishes top. We have won all our games in this format so far, so hopeful we can continue this to the end of season.

Overall its been a good season, and looking forward to the challenges that are presented next season.

One game to go.
Northdown and Dead Balls fighting to win it.

Of course, if they both fail spectacularly, I still have a mathematical chance. Therefore I suggest both teams top to try weird be tactics this week :D

I need to win and get the bonus point or win and overtake their NRR. So I'm going to bat first and put everyone to 9 aggression and I may as well put all my bowlers to 9 aggression too! That should be an easy win for me then with a big NRR boost.
