FHK will look to promote from Dev 3.6 this season, so starting off with a 1 run win over Rockhoppers CC was much needed! Lost our first Div 2 T20 game tho. Managing fitness and performance will be a real challenge this year - got to recruit some new 16 YOs to handle the Dev bot bashing so that the senior kids can win us T20 and SOD games.
How's everyone else's season going so far?
Season 28
Re: Season 28
Haven't managed to set my orders yet for the competitive games although I did manage to set it for some friendlies. We managed to win anyway and, thankfully, I did have some proper default orders set for the SOD game.
I'd be happy to stay in Dev 2.3 this season; there may be a chance of promotion but it's not something I'm really striving for. For T20 and SOD, I could do with introducing some of my younger players and moving on some of my older players. I'm also moving towards spin friendly pitches which means more games for Farooq who has been sadly neglected for a number of seasons due to not needing so many spinners.
I sold seam allrounder Farrukh for about a 200k loss but I got good use out of him despite him being precocious. I probably need to sell more players or I'll never move the youngsters up to the first team until it's too late.

Re: Season 28
Just been re-promoted to division one in OD and T20 after going down a season ago. I've a pretty young team, so survival is probably a realistic goal. Disappointed to lose my first OD game by two runs, but it was a decent start.

It's a tough league so good luck to us both!
Re: Season 28
Cracking games in T20 with both the top 2 losing this week.
The league is back open again, with many of us having a good chance. 2nd half of season 28 will be exciting!

My affiliate is doing remarkably well so far this season
...
And we got a bit unlucky against dead balls a collapse os 50 odd for 8 sealed our fate when we were well on track to kill another giant!
Ah well.
Some huge games coming up as we have a title decider in dev v Cunning, followed by a top of the table clash... against Cunning in OD (or whichever way round it is), and we've got a fair few important T20 games to try and promote on too.

Re: Season 28
2/3 through the SOD games.
I'll predict it
Cunning 28
Dead Balls 27
Eagles 26.
If Dead Balls can bowl fast enough they will have one more point.
If I suffer a batting collapse it'll all be different. Neither is very likely.
So the back half of the season will be another close one.
Edit.
Turns out my guys batted well for once and we got the bonus point. Still anyone's league though.

Oof we batted poorly, collapsed after a good platform of recovery but ultimately your side were too strong for us on the day. Can't win them all! On to dev next week!

But a good 5 point win in dev leaves us 10 points clear with 5 to play, the title should be ours!

Re: Season 28
East Row Eagles are on the verge of their first ever div 1 title.
We put Blandford Badgers into bat and the aggressive approach got them off to a solid start, but a cluster of wickets from our 4 pronged spin attack eventually kept them below 200, the chase was pretty easy with Painter scoring 50, Pallett hitting 95* and Wheeler with a solid 45*. A dominant 9 wicket win which pushes us to 49 points.
The Eagles then cast their eye to other results and suddenly there was a chance that they could win the title on the day!
Woody's woodpeckers fell short against Peckham which means that they are now out of the title race but Cunning managed to hold on against Admirers.
However the odds are heavily stacked against Cunning now, as they are 14 points shy of the Eagles with only a maximum of 15 to obtain and a huge NRR difference to scale.
